Long COVID

Worth it

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: MCAS - Better long time Long COVID - Moderate improvement
Last appointment: Within the last 6 months

Dr Vaughn does not take insurance if you are out of state (not sure if you are in state). He has specialized in long covid and is willing to try things. He is the only person (to my knowledge) in the US with flourescent microscopy to assess microclots. If you have them, he prescribed triple therapy (three anti-coagulants at once). He knows a fair bit about supplements and MCAS. He will send you for extensive labs (what should be partly covered by your insurance if you have insurance). He did a very thorough lab work up on me, checking to see if I had various autoimmune conditions, EBV reactivation, HHV6 reactivation, genetic clotting disorders, lymphocyte counts, histamine levels, endothelial health markers, etc. He has seen many with long Covid and has a wealth of personal information. He has a few nurse practitioners – I think Katie is the best.

Vein Compression Guru

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Vascular Compression - Complete recovery
Last appointment: 6-12 months ago

Dr. Spencer is an interventional radiologist with a specialty in pelvic congestion syndrome and may thurner syndrome (aka iliac vein compression). She is studying how these compressions may contribute to POTS. She stents people for compression in their iliac vein, which seems more common post-covid.

In order to see Dr. Patterson you have to pay for an expensive (around $700 out-of-pocket) lab that is associated with him. This is one of the few labs that showed many abnormalities for me. He then suggested to my doctor that I should be put on atorvastatin and maravoric. He does not prescribe directly. He also flagged for me that I might have lyme issues, which I appreciated him noticing.

Dr. Neff does not know a lot about long Covid or myalgic encephalitis, but she is willing to help. If you bring her a study of some thing that was tested in a small batch of people, she will review your labs to see if it’s safe for you and prescribe it if it is. She cares about you personally and listens really well.

Novavax

Prescription Medication

Low adverse effects

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Long COVID - Moderate improvement

Novavax does not seem to do anything for my long Covid symptoms, but it also does not seem to make me worse. I typically get a sore arm for a few days afterwards. My insurance covered it once, but when I went for a shot three months later, I couldn’t find a pharmacy in network with my insurance so I paid $300.
