Rivastigmine (transdermal)

Prescription Medication

Permanent remission of cognitive dysfunction and emotional dysregulation

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Brain Fog - Complete recovery

I was getting lost in familiar places, having panic attacks over small decisions like what to wear, struggling with word recall, unable to learn new skills, and emotionally volatile. I took rivastigmine transdermal 4.6mg for 6 months and it's almost completely gone now. I still get some flareups of brain fog associated with MCAS but I don't feel like I have dementia anymore, and my moods are much stabler. It didn't feel like it was doing anything until around month 5, but the results were astonishing and permanent.

Pyridostigmine (Mestinon)

Prescription Medication

Profound improvement of dysautonomia with tolerable side effects

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Dysautonomia - Major improvement
Side Effects Experienced: Bronchial Secretions

It significantly improved my tachycardia, lightheadedness upon standing up, hypoglycemia, and cold/heat intolerance. It also really helped my MCAS. It does cause significant bronchial secretions so I always feel like I'm coming down with a chest cold, but I've managed to tune it out.

Budesonide (Entocort EC)

Prescription Medication

Helped short term memory loss with no side effects

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Anxiety - Better long time Memory - Better long time

I did nebulized budesonide 2x/d for 3 months in a Long Covid clinic a few years back. It took time, but it significantly and permanently helped my short term memory loss, anxiety, and indecisiveness. I didn't have any side effects from it. The only downside is that it's pretty time consuming, but it was well worth it.

NAC (N-Acetylcysteine)

Supplement

Great in the short term, ask a dr before using it long term

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Fatigue - Major improvement

NAC profoundly and rapidly improved my fatigue (ME/CFS). It worked fantastically for about a year for me. But around one year, I started getting really bad histamine intolerance symptoms, which got pushed over the edge after I switched to a more potent brand of NAC. The last few times I tried to take NAC, I had really severe neurological symptoms from histamine intolerance. Given how sensitive people with LC are to histamine intolerance and mast cell disease, I wouldn't recommend anyone take it long term. Maybe taking it in cycles would be safer.

Metformin

Prescription Medication

Helped a little with fatigue, side effects were not worth it

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Fatigue - Better short time
Side Effects Experienced: Nausea Upset Stomach

I took 500mg/d for one week with 2-4 weeks off. It helped a bit with fatigue, particularly my severe morning drowsiness. If I took it for longer than 7 days, I would get very sluggish, although it would go away within 24 hours of stopping metformin. I made up this dosing schedule. I noticed it would start backfiring around the one week mark, so I'd stop and then re-start once the morning drowsiness came back, which was usually a few weeks. Unfortunately, around 4 months into using it in these cycles, I started having severe nausea and stomach pain. Felt like digesting razorblades. I couldn't mitigate it by taking it with/out food or at different times, so I just stopped.
