Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections (PRP)’s Reviews

Patients Say

Most PRP stories come from sports-injury and skin-healing circles, but a handful of Long COVID communities have started asking whether the same growth-factor “boost” might help lingering symptoms—especially smell loss. Right now, data are thin: one controlled study hints that PRP injected into the olfactory cleft can ease post-COVID parosmia for some people, yet there’s virtually nothing on fatigue, brain-fog, or post-exertional malaise. No published reports focus on ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, or POTS.

Themes showing up in early conversations

  • Smell trials: A few Long COVID participants describe modest improvements in scent recognition after PRP plus standard olfactory training, though results are mixed and seem to depend on how long the smell loss has lasted.

  • Musculoskeletal carry-over: People familiar with PRP for knees, tendons, or hair loss sometimes try it for localized pain that flared after COVID—but almost nobody has shared outcomes for whole-body or cognitive symptoms.

  • Practical roadblocks: Multiple injections, clinic visits, and high out-of-pocket costs keep many from experimenting. Energy crashes after procedures are another recurring worry in ME/CFS spaces.

  • Where it was injected – olfactory area, knee, elbow, scalp, etc.

  • Number of sessions & spacing – one-off, weekly series, monthly maintenance.

  • What changed (or didn’t) – smell accuracy, pain level, fatigue, PEM, mood.

  • How long any effects lasted – days, weeks, ongoing?

  • Side-effects – soreness, swelling, energy crash, none at all.

Every story—big win, mild help, or total dud—adds to the collective picture and helps the next visitor make a more informed call. Thanks for contributing!

Expensive, but noticeably improved my sense of smell

Symptoms Treated: Loss Of Smell - Better long time
Side Effects Experienced: Bloody Nose

I first lost my sense of smell from COVID back in 2021. For the first year, I couldn't smell anything at all. Over time, it very gradually improved, but the process was slow and limited. By early 2024, I could smell things up close again, but I couldn't smell anything at a distance. For example, in the past, if I walked into a movie theater, I'd be able to smell the popcorn just walking by the lobby. Now, I couldn't smell it unless I literally shoved my head into the popcorn bucket. Over the course of about 2 months, I had three rounds of PRP injections into my nasal cavity. The procedure greatly improved my sense of smell at a distance. Unfortunately, it didn't totally resolve my smell issues. Even after the procedure, there were still some scents I couldn't smell. It was costly, and insurance didn't cover it, but I didn't regret it and would recommend it for anyone who can afford it and misses their sense of smell.
