U

Patients Say

Positives

  • Drinking peppermint tea during flare-ups “was very soothing” and settled post-COVID nausea when prescription meds couldn’t.

  • Several long-haulers say a peppermint + nettle blend calmed burping and gut pain better than omeprazole.

  • Two nightly cups of nettle infusion cut migraines, bloat, and fatigue for a Hashimoto’s/long-COVID blogger within a month.

  • A 32-oz nettle infusion “made my sound-sensitivity disappear,” reports an MCAS/long-COVID sufferer.

  • Quercetin + nettle users note sharper cognition and longer walks without crashes.

  • Ginkgo drops let one long-hauler “remember things again” and lifted the brain “buffering” feeling within weeks.

  • Others credit ginkgo with erasing dizziness and temperature dysautonomia almost completely.

Negatives

  • Peppermint can relax the lower esophageal sphincter and trigger harsh reflux or heartburn in sensitive users.

  • Strong nettle brews caused “scary heart palpitations, vomiting, and nonstop urination” that lingered for days after stopping. reddit.com

  • Others notice a spike in premature atrial contractions when they take nettle-based antihistamine capsules. reddit.com

  • Several ginkgo testers felt “zero difference” after months of pills and advise saving the money.

  • A case report links ginkgo to acute mood dysregulation and anxiety attacks.

  • Clinicians warn ginkgo can raise bleeding risk, especially before surgery or when combined with NSAIDs.

Hurdles & Side Effects

  • Nettle’s strong diuretic action can leave POTS patients dizzy unless they chase it with extra fluids and electrolytes.

  • Standardized ginkgo extracts cost about $20-$40 per month, and 60 % of brands fail quality tests.

  • Consumer-press pieces dub the herb-supplement market a “Wild West,” noting ginkgo and peppermint can dangerously interact with prescription drugs.

  • Fans admit nettle’s earthy taste and nightly brewing feel like a chore and may not justify modest benefits.

  • Peppermint’s cooling menthol occasionally leaves drinkers shivery or jittery when brewed strong.

This is absolutely fantastic for the brain fog / cognitive dysfunction

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Brain Fog - Better short time

There is actually - surprisingly- a randomised control trial demonstrating ginko's effectiveness in ME/CFS that's out there, which you'll easily be able to find. I have found ginko pill supplements fairly helpful, but nowhere near as much as this specific product. I'm not sure whether it is the ginko PLUS the nettles (potentially PLUS the ginger?) in this tea that helps me so much. It may simply be that this tea is more bioavailable than supplements, or contains more of it. But it certainly does help a hell of a lot. I noticed a decline in my health over a week without it - and practically immediate relief when I got more. This may be to thank for my ability to read a reasonable amount despite cognitive dysfunction/memory loss/brain fog being a prominent feature of what I'm dealing with. It only just falls short of 5 starts because it's not curative - it just provides significant relief (which is conducive to recovery) and is almost certainly very safe.
