Prior to visiting the Georgia Heart Institute in Braselton, my PCP ordered a tilt table test. After I received my results, I was referred here. Admittedly, the first two appointments I had at the Georgia Heart Institute weren’t the best. I was dismissed by two of the cardiologists there who didn’t know a lot about POTS or Long COVID. Despite admitting my results were alarming, neither diagnosed me. The first cardiologist prescribed me a beta-blocker and a shoulder shrug. However, the second cardiologist at my follow up appointment was much nicer, understanding to my plight, and she suggested I see Dr. Stephen Prater whom specializes in Electrophysiology at their practice. I don’t know why I wasn’t immediately referred to him to begin with, but I’m glad I continued to advocate for myself and found him. He is kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable on POTS. After an EKG, I was diagnosed at my following appointment with him. If you’re in the NE Georgia area and need POTS related help, please consider Dr. Stephen Prater. A lot of other cardiologist and PCPs are not up to date on post-infection conditions! I was diagnosed in early 2023.
