Unbelievable knowledge and open-mindedness, but disorganized practice

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID

In terms of value for money, Dr. Murphy is a great pick as far as Long COVID doctors. He doesn't charge exorbitant rates, he has had Long COVID/vaccine injury, talked about it publicly, so has a personal interest in helping. He's also like a 4th-order thinker whereas other doctors are 2nd-order at best. He understands how complex this condition is and from how many angles you have to attack it. He's also a risk taker and willing to try anything if there's evidence it will help. If you are in a visit with him, you feel great, because he instills a confidence that there are options to take. However, outside of that visit, you are left on your own to deal with his back office. His assistant, Muhanad, is supposed to take care of the admin side of things, and he means well, but his English understanding is poor and he's dreadfully unorganized. He's very responsive for random things but then doesn't respond at all if something is going wrong. You will be fighting tooth and nail to get anything done on his side outside the visit.

He posts on X and substack regularly about long covid treatments and pathophysiology. He is a longevity doctor and utilizes his knowledge from that area to help treat his long covid patients. His assistant Muhanad has been a huge help in getting meds and supplements/peptides.

Goes beyond supplements for long covid

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID

For last 1.5 years I was only taking supplements, but he gave me rapamycin and also prescribed me antivirals. I still have to start HIV antivirals so dont know results yet. But he is full of knowledge. I was taking Methylene blue , he stopped me from taking it as he thought it is not good for mitochondria dysfunction. I would highly recommend him. He does not take insurance but he tries to keep hourly cash rate reasonable around 400/300 dollars.

Dr Murphy is very open-minded and willing to prescribe antivirals

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: POTS PEM (Post Exertional Malaise)
Last appointment: 6-12 months ago

He was one of the first willing to do so, while all other MD’s said there was nothing to be done to treat LC. He has at least one patient who is now recovered. I don’t necessarily agree with every single thing he says. For example I am not convinced that Covid can infect gut bacteria or that we should take antibiotics to treat that. But he’s absolutely a great resource and I commend him for stepping up when other doctors are too cowardly to do anything. He has offices in NYC and is licensed in a few states. If he’s licensed in your state you can meet with him virtually, otherwise you’ll have to travel to his office to be seen.
